MNC CELEBRATES THE MAIDSTONE MELA 2010



12th Sept, MAIDSTONE NEPALESE COMMUNITY (MNC) proudly took part in annual multi cultural celebration of Maidstone town, MAIDSTONE MELA as ambassdor of Nepal to UK HE Dr. Suresh Chandra Chalise opened the event. Nearly 5000 people turned up to enjoy the event even nature had to spell her grace of a good weather! HE Dr. Chalise was welcomed by MNC Chair Ratna Limbu and Secretary Hari Gurung.

Maidstone town celebrates the multi cultural and tradition fair on 2nd weekend of Sept every year. This event brings everyone to a plateform and helps to share and exchange the cultural values and norms. MNC being the largest ethnic group in the town area, has been taking part in since 2007 and plays a vital role being a member of advisory committee of Mela.

The mela was opened with the community pared which was escorted by the Panche baja (Nepalese traditional music) along with kids from school, and other member of communities. Members of MNC did not wait a minute to dance when the Naumati baajaa was played which then thrilled the surroundings and audiences.

Following the speech by Dr. Chalise, Nepali dances began. The song and performance lured the audiences as usual. Nepalese foods including MO:MO were on sale. Nepalese community's stall was further decorated by the paintings of Mr. Gobinda Sah 'Aajad' an wellknown fine artists who specilises in oil paintings with the theme of 'cloud'!

The mela consisted many stalls by the various communities and business. Public Relation Officer Dinesh Khadka showed HE Dr. Chalise and Mrs. Chalise around the mela which both keenly observed.
