Gurkha Statue Unveiling- 2nd Oct - 12 PM

A big birthday gift; forever lasting honour !!

On the occasion of 60th birthday of Queen's Gurkha Engineer (QGE), Maidstone Borough Council initiated to erect Gurkha Statue by the museum. This not only reflects the QGE' 60th birthday symbol but also depicts the honor to those Gurkha soldiers who have been fighting for Britain for nearly 200 years. The fearless soldiers who are renowned in the world for their bravery, loyality and selflessness will boast to accept the honor.


The statue unveiling ceremony is going to be held on 2nd Oct at 11.30. The programme as follows:-
  • Queen's Gurkha Engineer soldiers and officers, led by the Brigade of Gurkhas Band Pipes and Drums, will step off from County Hall at approx. 11:35 to march along Week Street to St Faith's Street

  • When reaching Maidstone Museum in St Faith's Street, the troops (who will arrive at about 11:40) will form into ranks and be inspected by the Mayor and Lt Gen David Bill CB

  • The unveiling ceremony will start at 12:00 and last approximately 25 minutes

Please do participate the ceremony in a traditional Nepalese costume or formal dress!

Be there at 11am so it will ease to organise!
