MAIDSTONE MELA - 2009


Maidstone Mela 09 was hugely celebrated. Thousands of people from Maidstone turned to take part in. Mela is being celebrated on 2nd week of Sept each year to mark the diversity of Maidstone town.

People from different backgroud performed their culture, tradition, foods and musics. Maidstone Nepalese Community also had a stall for foods and information about Nepal, Nepalese culture and natural beauties!

Priya Maden performed Nepalese traditional dance and there was also Sakela dance. Maidstone locals qued to taste Nepalese dumplings (MO:MO) with tomato chutney.

Mayor of Maidstone Cll. Peter Pravin and Cllr. Daphen Pravin visited MNC's stall and enjoyed chow-min complimented with chuntey. Former Maidstone Mayor Cllr Denise Joy and Kenny Joy expressed how they enjoyed the event.

Members of MNC eagerly took part in and appreciated how the Mela is getting bigger and raising its profile.

MNC exppresses that such event plays a catalyst to integrate between different culture, background, race and origin.

MNC has been taking part in Mela since 2007.
