MNC meets Kent Fire & Rescue Officier

On 16th July 09,
members from Maidstone Nepalese Community met to crew manager Mr. Daniel Turnder to discuss community safety and fire safety awareness. This meet has bridged a strong relationship between MNC and Kent Fire Authority. During the meet , it was agreed that Mr. Turner will brief to MNC members regarding Fire Safey and Awareness on 26th July at Aylesford Village Community Hall where MNC will be celebrating Summer BBQ
Ratna Limbu, Hari Gurung, Padam Thapa, Jhapat Bhujel and Dinesh Khadka were also showed around the fire appliances and brifed about their application during fire fighting.
Mr. Turner confirmed that he will organise one Fire Engine to be on site on 26th.

Dear all,
Namaste!!,
I, Jhapat Bhujel as the sports secetary of Maidstone Nepalese Community (MNC) would like to inform everybody that we at MNC try to help and encourage all our children to participate in sports and similar activites because its important to keep fit. it will do good for your physical appearance/body and mind. Anyone interested to participate (any sports) should contact our team. We are more than willing to help. Also if anyone is taking part in sporting activites e.g basketball,football tournaments, etc have to inform us ASAP so that we can do as much as possible in order to help and support you further e.g sponser the team from Maidstone. We are fortunate to have an excellent dance team and group of talented young dancers who could go much further with our help e.g provide them with needed equipments and gear. The dance directors, Benu Gurung, Sabita Limbu, Saraswati Thapa let us know what you require so that we can do all that is possible to help.

MNC WAS INVITED TO CIVIC SERVICE BY LORD LT. OF KENT







The Lord Lieutenant of Kent, Allan Willet kindly invited Maidstone Nepalese Community to his Civic Service at Rochester. Nepalese community is one of the significant group within ethnics living in Kent. Six members of Maidstone Nepalese Community took part in the Service on 26th March. MNC overwhelmed by the invitition as felt inclusion and represetation of the county !

MNC members; Ratna Limbu, Hari Gurung, Jhapat Bhujel, Mina Bhujel, Dilip Rai and Dinesh Khadka enjoyed the event entirely. They have a informal discussion with the Mayor of Maidstone other guests from around the Kent.

While walking on the street, MNC's members were highly regarded by the member of public as the 'Gurkha' hat recalled their nostalgia!

Their Past Your Future launching



Maidstone Museum carried out project naming ''Their Past Your Future'' funded by National Lottery, was lauched tonight. The war veterans took part in the project revealing their past experiences at war both bitter and memorable! Madan Gurung and Badri Rai representing Gurkhas veteran volunteered to record their voice and telling the young interviewers about their war experiences.


Mayor of Maidstone was also present there. Representing MNC Mr. Ranta Limbu, Mr. Hari Gurung, Mr/Mrs. Jhapat Bhujel, Mr/Mrs. Badri Rai, Mr/Mrs. Madan Gurung & Mr./Mrs. Dinesh Khadka attended the launching programme.


MNC would take this opportunity to thank Badri Rai and Madan Gurung for their effort, hardwork and contribution to make the project success.

MNC's new Executive Committee for 2009- 2011

25th Jan, Annual General Meeting held at Marsham St. elected new Executive Committee memebers for 2009- 2011. Previous committee was thanked for bringing the MNC to this level and appreciteated everyone's effort made to create such profile within locals and local authorities. New committee follows as:

Joseph Rowntree Foundation Donates 700 Pounds to MNC

Don Brand as the trustee of Joseph Rowntree Foundation donated 700 pounds to Maidstone Nepalese Community. He understands the vitality of fund which boosts the community to give continuity of their work.

The donation is highly appreciated by the community.

GOOD TIMES: Nepalese festival has plenty to celebrate

MORE than 500 Nepalese people celebrated a traditional festival at the weekend.
Maidstone Nepalese Community hosted the festival of Dashain, 2065, at Maidstone Leisure Centre, Mote Park, on Friday night.
The festival celebrates the triumph of good against evil and the event at Mote Hall included displays by dancers like the group above.
The community's new logo was also revealed. It shows a pigeon, the symbol of Nepal, next to the Kent Invicta horse, Mount Everest and the Medway.
Dinesh Khadka, spokesman for the community, said: "This comes at the end of an amazing week, where retired Gurkhas won their court action and a Gurkha statue was unveiled.
"We counted 565 people through the doors tonight, which is amazing."
